My Road Resolutions

I am not one to make New Years resolutions let alone stick with the ones that I actually have made.  Every time I have ever tried, I usually give up within the first few weeks days.  But laying in bed the other night, I asked G what his New Years resolution was and he bluntly stated "to be a better husband."  While G and I have been together over 8 years, spending 3 out of 7 nights apart each week will take its toll on any relationship.  I've realized how strong our relationship is, being able to withstand this distance, but we're not without our own problems and his answer still took me aback.

So I decided that this year I was going to start small and make two New Years resolutions AND try to keep with them.  ::drum roll, please:: Without further adieu, I bring you my 2013 resolutions:

1. Be a better wife- It may sound cliche since G's resolution is to be a better husband, but I think this is very truthful to me.  Sometimes I forget the burden he has when I leave each week.  When I get home on the weekends, I get upset when things aren't exactly how I want them.  I've realized that I'm extremely lucky- I have a husband who loves me and while things may not be "right" when I get home, without his support I wouldn't be able to do what I do.

2. Start taking care of myself- Since college I've realized that I have let myself go.  Between constantly eating out almost every night of the week and having had my nose stuck in study materials, online lectures, and notecards studying for certifications to help advance my career, I really have not been taking care of myself.  I had started to use My Fitness Pal back in late-2011/early-2012 but stopped.  But now I have no excuse.  I have no more tests to study for and need to start watching what I eat and working out.  To keep myself accountable, I've taken two "then" pictures to compare to when I take "now" pictures along my journey (sorry for the poor quality, hotel mirrors and lighting aren't the best.)

While I am not ready to fully disclose HOW much weight I need to lose, I will state that it is a considerable amount somewhere between 50-100 pounds.  Being on the road and trying to track your meals is hard.  But I plan on sharing secrets to better eating and exercising while on the road and hope to learn some new things as well!  Find me on My Fitness Pal, username misab.

So those are the resolutions that I've made.  While neither are earth shattering, they are two key items when you spend a majority of your life on the road- take care of things at home and take care of yourself!

New Adventures Ahead

During 2012, I spent 32 weeks on the road working in 5 different cities in 2 different countries; but have pretty much been on the road since March 2011.  What  in the world do I do for a living, you might ask?  Out of college I would have told you one thing but now I've come to the realization the best term for what I do is consulting.  Most people, when I tell them about my life, think I'm crazy.  But I am enjoying (almost) every second of it.

However 2013 is shaping up to be an interesting year.  While I am still scheduled to be on the road, my husband, G, is going to be spending 10-12 months working on a project on the West Coast.  So while I thought I spent my life living out of a suitcase before, I'm getting ready to embark on a whole new adventure!
